Riks Book

I have just finished reading Rik Mayalls autobiography (if you can call it that)and my opinion - WHAT A LOAD OF RUBBISH. If any of you out there haven't read it yet, don't bother, you'll be as disappointed as I was. The only way to describe it is as a rambling mess. It's as if he's decided to pad the pages out with pointless drivell. It's like having Ritchie Rich talking at you and not getting to the point. I suppose I can get away with saying that cos I am Rik Mayall, no, I'm THE RIK MAYALL, and if you don't believe me go back and read it again, go on, I dare you, go on, I'll wait here for you, have you done it yet, well go and do it cos I'm THE RIK MAYALL and I'm on the edge of hells toilet and I don't care cos I'm Rik Mayall. Have you done it, why not, I don't have all day, I have a book to write cos I'm Rik Mayall and anyway they don't have toilets in hell, I know, or do I, I don't know, or do I, it don't matter cos I'm Rik Mayall and I'm going to tell your mum and there's nothing you can do, or is there, I don't know, or do I*
* Yes actually I know everything cos I'm THE RIK MAYALL.
And this basically goes on throughout the entire book. I was hoping to read something about his time in Bad News but it only got a slight mention. Why not? Brian May was the producer for their albums and they even played the Monsters of Rock concert at Castle Donnington. Their version of Bohemian Rhapsody got to number 44 in the charts. What about the charity single they did with Cliff Richard in 1986 for Comic Relief. That got to number 1. Barely a mention. I would've liked to have read more of the behind the scene goings on when doing The Young Ones, Filthy, Rich and Catflap, ComicStrip, Bottom etc. Rik says he wrote The Young Ones. Most of it was written by Ben Elton, who also wrote Filthy, Rich and Catflap.
I could go on as there's so much missing from this book but I'd be here all night. Don't get me wrong, I've loved Rik and Ades work over the years right back to when I was 9/10 years old in 1982 watching the first episode of The Young Ones and everyone talking about it at school the next day. Grrrrr - great days, and I've watched almost everything else Riks been in sinse but sorry to say, this book is pants, and not even custardy ones.
